Christmas Calendar 24- First Order Scouting Mission

Sometime before Episode VII The First Order is looking for a place for the Starkiller base in the unknown regions. They land on snowy planet with peculiar natives...
Snowtrooper: "Sir this planet seems suitable for our project. Natives are rather small and seem harmless and peaceful."

Kylo Ren: "No! You are making a grave mistake thinking that way. That is exactly the reason why Empire lost the battle of Endor- we need to leave at once, before our presence aggravates them!

Troopers: "Yes sir!"
Merry Christmas everyone! :)

Christmas Calendar Day 22

Batman-themed diorama I made a few years ago but I was not perfectly happy with it or the pictures I took from it. Anyways here it is now.

Batman and Gotham Police Department tries to save hostages Joker has taken into abandoned amusement park that Joker has redesigned and renamed as Jokerland (of course).

Christmas Calendar Day 21

I am sorry for the picture quality- something was wrong with my camera when I pictured this a long time ago and all pics are grained and poor. I made this moc few years ago and it depicts the first battle of American Revolutionary war 1775 - battle of Lexington and Concord.

Christmas Calendar Day 19

Old pirate-themed (sort of) moc representing Spanish fortress somewhere in 17th century Caribbean

Christmas Calendar Day 18

Ok this one is very old, like 5 years or more. I'm not happy with this moc myself- that's why I didn't post it before. I built Palpatine's office set for my old comic that I never even released completely and then I took these pictures of Revenge of the Sith scene in which Mace Windu is killed and Anakin turns to the dark side. I should've added dark background but it's too late now. Also custom Palpatine is rather hideous....  oh well I may do this again as better version.

Christmas Calendar Day 17

Heavily modified Corellian YT-1230X light freighter owned by an infamous smuggler captain Reveld Willsaam during the Imperial era also knows as the dark times. I made this ship originally for story that would have included the character of Willsaam and my sigfig jedi character Buck Slasher. I may yet continue the story some day...

Christmas Calendar Day 14

Ancient Rome diorama

I did this diorama while ago. I wanted to build something historical and  Rome of antique felt challenging. I had to use yellow figures this time.

Christmas Calendar Day 13

Battle of New Matza

Diorama I made some time ago with my new Episode 7 figures back then.

Backstory: New Matza is a remote planet located in the Unknown Regions near the First Order space. Colonized recently by some rodians. The First Order wants them to leave but when they refuse they decide to drive them out by force. A group of Resistance soldiers sent by General Leia Organa arrive to help colonists against stormtroopers led by Kylo Ren himself.

Christmas Calendar Day 12

This was originally going to be tank from Rogue One to my Jedha diorama, but this first version became too big for it so I named it TX-226 Heavy assault tank instead.

It is larger and more heavily armored version of canonical TX-225 GAVw Occupier seen in the Rogue One. I took this apart and built that smaller accurate one to my diorama.

Christmas Calendar Day 11

Today's moc is Rebel Y-wing fighter I made while back- I was frustrated since Lego's new official Y-wing had same inaccuracy as all the previous ones: it's cockpit is totally wrong.

I made my own but it was hard to do and I had to add some stickers to make the white spokes on the cockpit (but so do official sets many times)

Christmas Calendar day 10

This moc comes with a small story. After order 66 an unidentified jedi knight manages to escape to his homeworld of Haruun Kal with his padawan.

Empire sends assassins and bounty hunters after him. (Maybe inquisitors are busy I don't know, I made this moc a long time ago before Rebels came out.)

Haruun Kal is also based on planet's appearance in old legends continuity. It has not been portrayed in the canon yet, altough it is confirmed to exist in it as well.

Christmas Calendar Day 3

Not all my old mocs are Star Wars- this one is based on Assassin's Creed Game-series. Streets of Venice with carnival atmosphere and some assassin action on the rooftops.

Small diorama that depicts battle on Serenno- loosely based on the old legends continuity that mentions it.

Christmas Calendar: Day 1

I decided to make Christmas calendar from all my not-yet-posted mocs, some of them are really old. Day one is my old bigvig from Star Wars the Old Republic -game. It depicts Coruscant level's Black sun territory with Republic troopers fighting thugs and criminals there.

Announcement: Chronicles of Swashia

I’ve decided to start new series of mocs. Called Chronicles of Swashia it takes place in fantasy world of my own design, but with typical elements of high fantasy such as elves, dwarves, orcs, dragons, magic and such and of course humans and their kingdoms with medieval style knights, kings, princesses etc. and a lot of adventures, secrets and intrigue.

That’s the plan at least. I am currently making first actual moc for the series(I don’t count this vignette)- big diorama depicting epic battle between two armies, but not all mocs are going to be big dioramas.

Then I’m going to continue series bit by bit, whenever I feel like it, but I’m of course going to build other stuff as well.

Star Wars Rogue One Jedha Ambush -diorama

This another Rogue One diorama is larger and took longer than my Scarif. I built it almost whole summer (mainly just during weekends though) It is the biggest and most detailed diorama I've ever built.

Imperial tank is ambushed on Tythoni square in Jedha City

Stormtroopers versus Saw Gerrera's rebel partisans
I included section with market square as well
More pictures from my Flickr (includes some W.I.P. pics)

Star Wars Rogue One Battle of Scarif -diorama

I did this diorama last spring and it was one of my largest projects ever. It is quite large while not that complicated construction, what took more time than building the landscape was designing and building MOC-vehicles such as AT-ATC and U-Wing I wanted to add to my diorama.
Diorama without figures and on lower left corner there is custom Tie Striker I built for this diorama.
Battle scene with rebels and stormtroopers on the platform.

I built the sea with loose trans-clear and trans light-blue studs. I personally like the way it  looks while I usually prefer lego-techniques in which pieces are connected. I feel like it's not properly built if pieces just lie there on top of each other. This time I made an exception for this rule.

At-Act attacks- this was hard to because of the scale. I wanted At-Act to be as accurate as possible, but I couldn't do it much bigger than this because it should also fit into my diorama and be able to stand up. It became quite fragile but it could stand on it's own without supports and also legs could be posed just a little

My MOC U-wing on Scarif with Rebel reinforcements

Swash Buckler's LEGO blog is now open!

Hello! I am Finnish AFOL and I've been previously posting my lego creations online on Mocpages  and Flickr. I decided to start having a blog about my hobby, so I can easily tell more about my building projects, show pictures of my ready creations and W.I.P:s and related stuff, like what legos I have bought or planning to buy, what I think of new lego sets etc.

I've been building legos all my life and never really had "dark ages" longer than a few months. My favorite themes are Star Wars, being a huge fan of both legos and Star Wars films, and historical themes like Pirates, Castle and Western in their different variations over the years, as well as other licensed themes such as Pirates of the Caribbean, Indiana Jones, Batman and Prince of Persia etc.

My younger brother shares my interests and usually we build our larger mocs together. Even though I am probably the bigger Lego-nerd of us two. I usually use the alias Swash Buckler or some variation of it online, It's not my real name, but comes from a term for heroic archetype in fiction which is something that is common to themes I like. I invented it for Mocpages account 2009 or so and then it really just got stuck and I've been using it, or variation of it, as internet alias since then.

I am usually extremely lazy updating my profiles and Mocpages doesn't really work well on my PC anymore, so I've been more active on Flickr. I try to be a bit more active in this blog :)
